بلد is the everyday word for a country; دولة is the political state. Either is accepted, and both turn up in reading texts.«بلد» للاستعمال العام، و«دولة» للكيان السياسي، وكلاهما مقبول.

Some take الـ, some do not

مصر, سوريا, فرنسا and لبنان take no article. المغرب, الأردن, السعودية, الصين and الهند always do. Learn each country with its article attached.بعض البلدان تُعرَّف بـ«الـ» وبعضها لا؛ فاحفظ كلًّا مع أداته.

Every country has its own culture and customs.لكلِّ بلدٍ ثقافتُه وعاداتُه.

I live in Britain but my family is from Syria.أعيشُ في بريطانيا لكنَّ أسرتي من سوريا.
