cold

بارد is the opposite of حار and behaves the same way: it agrees with whatever it describes.«بارد» ضدّ «حار»، ويطابق موصوفه في التذكير والتأنيث.

• The weather is cold in winter.الطقسُ باردٌ في الشتاء.
• The water is cold.الماءُ بارد.
• I wear a coat because the weather is cold.ألبسُ معطفًا لأنَّ الطقسَ بارد.
• It is colder in the mountains.الجوُّ أبردُ في الجبال.

Comparative

The comparative is أبرد — "colder". It never changes for gender: الجبال أبرد, المدينة أبرد.صيغة المقارنة «أبرد»، ولا تتغير مع المذكر أو المؤنث.
